Shouldn't be allowed based on USC's recent penalties, but now let's see how many follow him out the door.

You all realize that the NCAA has said teams don't have to dump a scholarship to offer one to a Penn Stater. They can be "over" as long as they get back to even at the end of the year, meaning they can take a kid now and it will just mean they won't have one they expect to have for the class of 2013.

    That's a shame.

I guess he wasn't interested in helping to heal the community.

Here is Redd's statement. He certainly handled his departure well.

Why not - they've already received penalties based on their past infractions? Why should they have additional penalties added on after the fact?

They currently have scholarship restrictions in place. Doesn't seem right to tell them they can't add recruits but you can add top-flight talent because of NCAA sanctions at another school.

But they can add recruits, just not as many. Off the top of my head I think their limit is 75 scholarships. So next year it will be 74 if they did not have any leftover.

Pac 10 has become an interesting place with all the coaching changes and now this.

Oh please. Those guys don't owe Penn State anything.

Right. They can't add a full class because they broke rules. If Redd went anywhere else, I don't think it matters. But to go to USC — which needs him essentially because they have an opening as a result of the sanctions against the program — seems like they are skirting the punishment.

Sorry just not seeing the logic.

So you basically want to punish them twice - once with scholarship reductions and then a second time by not letting them add players that every other school in the country are allowed to go after?
