I am correct in understanding that the totals do not include incoming Freshman?

20 % of the group is made up of TE's and WR's for a team that does not have a great passing game.

    Only 5 Db's and 5 LB's . I bet some ends get moved.

A great opportunity for walk on's Good bye Slippery Rock / hello Penn State.

That includes incoming freshmen for 2012. Those without a redshirt are a QB, an RB, 3 WR, 2 TE, 2 OL, a DE, 3 DT, 2 LB, 3 CB and a S.

It doesn't include the 12 commits for 2013, which right now are QB, 2 WR, TE, 3 OL, 2 DE, LB, CB and an ATH

Yep, that's what I was thinking. If you're going to stink, you might as well stink with walkons.

So if nobody else leaves they can only offer schollys to five of the 12 2013 kids who are committed at this point.

It's going to end up like a company buy out. The players they want to leave will stay because they have not where else to go and they players they want to stay will be out of there.

My understanding is that for 2013, they have to be down to 75 total. Starting with 2014 is when they have to be at 65.

The breakdown for 2013 roster right now is 18 seniors, 14 juniors, 29 sophomores (not knowing who will redshirt 2012) and 12 freshmen.

So for 2014, they will have 14 seniors, 29 juniors and 12 sophomores. Meaning for the current junior class, they can give out 10 scholarships to get to 65, assuming no other high school seniors commit.

They better put some "advisers" on the payroll and go after JUCO players.

They've probably lost all the kids they're going to lose before this season. At this point it's probably too late for a kid to catch on with another school.

However, kids who play this season and then want to bail for 2013 can also do so unconditionally.

    Oh, I know - and they'll lose a bunch.

But the people who were rooting for mass defections before this season are going to be disappointed.

That's a great point. Could be the walk year for a lot of those sophomores if things don't go well.

10 percent (8 out of 80) is pretty good so far. And there are still a couple on the fence.
