What the heck are you talking about? I'm like most people. I didn't know this was happening. I did not live in State College and I have covered maybe two football games there in my career. So no, I'm not the first person to say any of this stuff. I'm just one of the people hoping that at least some of the people foolish enough to continue to defend Penn State will finally see reason.

No one is defending PSU per se. A wrong was committed, yes but those that did wrong are being dealt with. The problem as many see it is that there are thousands with ties to the school that had nothing to do with the happenings. The sanctions are, they feel, hurting them unjustly.

You have to feel bad for the fans who are severely affected by NCAA sanctions. I don't know how they can get out of bed in the morning.

You know, I'm wondering when Penn State president Rodney Erickson didn't bring the issue to the entire Board of Trustees before agreeing to this? On something this large, that would have seemed like a logical step.

Perhaps rioting in the streets and continually casting themselves as the victims is somehow confirming the Freeh Report's conclusion about the "culture" that made football too big.

    Well, yes.

But, again, you take the same scenario and have it play out somewhere else, and you are going to get the same reaction. That's what sort of bothers me about this, this sanctimonial reaction of other schools that they wouldn't behave the same way or react the same way. Bull on that. You're no different, so stop looking down your nose at a fellow school.

Sure, Mark, plenty of other big-time college football programs probably have cultures in which football rules all. That doesn't change the fact that only one big-time college football program covered up child rape. How does that not compute? Are you just arguing for the sake of arguing?

I guess we'll never know until we find another school that allows a child rapist to continue along for 14 years (at least) and then we find a hundred thousand fans who wonder if that was such a bad thing anyway.

WR Zach Bradshaw is the fourth player to decommit. Now headed to Virginia.

Syracuse sneaked out their report on Bernie Fine during all the PSU hoopla.

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/bigeast/story/2012-07-05/syracuse-findings-bernie-fine-investigation/56041250/1

Basically, the matter was handled internally, treating it as an "HR issue." They did not report to the police. They did not interview witnesses. The BOT was never notified. No one will ever know what happened and Bernie Fine will never go to jail because the statute of limitation is up.

When will the NCAA bring down the hammer? When will the people on this board begin spewing vitriol for Syracuse?

When a credible witness surfaces. So far we have a couple of guys who say some stuff happened a long time ago, who have been asking for money, who admit to creating a false tape and false accusations. And not any of it touches Jim Boeheim or the Syracuse administration.

You sound dumber every time you try to create one of these false equivalencies. But I'm sure you won't stop.
