BTW, reports are that Robert Bolden had already been released from his scholarship before the NCAA penalties were announced.

How bad do you have to fuck up to get thrown off of a team that is facing massive scholarship reductions and needs every able body it can find?

Definitely news but he's just a walk-on so I don't know how it will be viewed.

I would guess there are more potential child molesters among university faculty than among university coaching staffs.

And by not takng Paterno's name off of the library Erickson is essentially saying that as long as you contribute to the academic side of the university it's ok if you cover for a child molester.

Nobody is saying that Penn State is the only place with that mentality, but Penn State is the place where it clearly led to a cover-up for a man molesting children, a cover-up that allowed him to continue to abuse them. We don't know for sure what would have happened at those other schools. We know what happened at Penn State.

Leaving the name on the library is an acknowledgement that the guy did do so some good. We still have monuments to slave owners all over this country, don't we?

That may be but this is yet another example that the Penn State administration doesn't get it.

    Here's a perspective (from a lawyer's typical analysis):

If Paterno had turned in Sandusky in 1998 and admitted that there had been a child molester in their midst; where would the program be in 2012?

I highly doubt it would be where it is today; so those who want to preserve the library, statute, etc. you're basically for keeping the ill-gotten proceeds from hiding the child-molester.

I still think Sandusky has some sort of dirt on either Paterno or Penn State itself and that's why they covered for him in the first place.

You're the one who doesn't get "it." The guy was not evil. He made a terrible decision. Outside of that, he donated millions to the school and to charities, he graduated more players than any coach in the country, turned in the highest team GPA several times and directly and indirectly affected thousands of lives in a positive way.

Educate yourself on what he did for Adam Taliaferro and Rich Mauti and Bob White. The man was not Satan. He just made an awful mistake. I'm not defending that decision. It can't be defended. But all the good he did also can't be denied.

Good take on possible Redd departure from Bob Flanders of The Patriot News:

I just cannot see under what circumstances that Redd would think it's a good idea to remain at Penn St.

If he's planning to go pro after this season he might as well stay at Penn State. Not sure it's worth it to move across country a week before camp opens when you'll only be there for five months.

Penn State's NCAA sanctions will have no bearing on his draft stock.

There was an investigation in 1998 and no criminal wrong doing was found.
