I don't have a problem with it. If this is where he wants to go to continue his education and his playing career, if this is what will make him happy, I'm happy for him. What seems to be the problem with that?

Really. Players transfer all the time, although this seems like a little late.

If the guy wants to play at PSU and thinks he'll get a chance more power to him.

Unconditional love is for a mother. Not a football fan.

    OK, I'll buy your argument.

Maybe Paterno wasn't as loyal to Sandusky as has been portrayed. Maybe the real rationale was more along the lines of "Damn, if this goes public it will make ME look bad. And I really didn't do anything wrong. So, Jerry, go away in retirement and STFU and don't tarnish MY reputation."

If that's the case, it's still quite logical thinking, to seek to protect one's reputation from negative publicity.

He was doing it at the cost of allowing Sandusky to rape more children. You think that is sensible? Seriously?

And now, another tidbit from the Pos book:

    http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/08/flounders_10_fascinating_sport.html

So: Paterno didn't have the authority to call the cops and say "We have an old man diddling kids in the shower room," but he did have the power to pull the school out of the conference -- over an on-field call during a football game.

    Okay.

And to think people here were jumping to conclusions about Poz going soft on Paterno.

Why isn't it that Poz is simply laying out the facts and letting you decide what a miserable megalomaniac Paterno is? Take Poz's name off the book and I bet it reads exactly how each side wants to see it: As a defense of Paterno or a complete hanging of him with his own actions and words.

Where does that paragraph say Paterno had that power anywhere but in his own mind?

That's almost as ridiculous as your idiotic statement that Kevin Wilson could keep the President of the United States out of his practice facility.

This strikes me as more evidence that Paterno wasn't in possession of all of his marbles. There was - and is - no fucking way on God's green earth that Penn State is leaving the Big 10, even if JoePa wanted to at that time. The only way the leave is if the Big 10 throws them out.

People on both sides of this issue are losing thier fucking minds.

    Because that's not allowed anymore.

Poz won't answer my questions, so I'll stick with my opinion untl he starts talking.

Including you, if you don't think every single D-1 head football coach in the nation doesn't have the power to point his finger at ANYBODY wandering in "his" football building and say, "You. Out."

    With the exceptions of:

    1) The AD (at some schools)

    2) the school president (at some schools)

    3) the board of trustees chairman (at some schools)

    4) Barack Obama (in some states. In many states they wouldn't wait for the coach's say-so to chuck him out)

Pretty much anybody and everybody else, if the Head Ball Coach points his finger at you and hoists his thumb, you are on your way out the door, very quickly.

Bringing it back to the point, it is beyond laughable to suggest Joe Paterno, the Living God of Happy Valley, did not have the personal authority to have Jerry Sandusky thrown bodily out of the football building with a very firm order never to return.

For some reason Joe felt he couldn't give that order. Maybe someday we'll find out why.
