PSU staff meetings sound like "Real Housewives" coffee klatches.

"You're fired!!" "No I quit!!" "Come back I need you." "Oh I'm sorry about the horrible things I said." "Do you forgive me?" "Maybe this time." "Well I quit again!" "You can't quit, you're fired and I really really mean it this time!!" "Oh please you know I never really meant it." "Sometimes the things you say make me so crazy!!"

Or "Brokeback Mountain" outtakes. ::) ::)

A truly decisive leader, like we were assured for 40 years Paterno was supposed to be, doesn't say "you're fired" unless and until he really means it. Everybody in the program needs to know when the Big Man brings his foot down, it stays down.

And he doesn't tolerate the "I quit/oh I didn't mean it" drama-queenery either. Once you let somebody run that line twice, it's only a matter of time before they're doing every time somebody else steals the last frosted doughnut.

Trial date set for Curley and Schultz.

Worth noting that jury selection won't begin until January.

Sandusky was tried less than six months after he was charged but it will be over a year before these guys are in court.

    The Sandusky trial was rushed.

Prosecutors and the judge thought a child rape case was a big deal.

Yes - it is really too bad the wheels of justice moved so swiftly.

Most murder cases take longer to get to trial. I've seen cases take more than 2 years.

I believe a defendant is entitled to a speedy trial so those that drag on for years are at the defense's prerogative.

Again, so? It was a high-profile case and his lawyers didn't drag it out. Why exactly is it a bad thing that the trial happened quickly?

I recall Sandusky's lawyer saying their team had asked for continuances and that would be an issue on appeal.

Do you know what the justification for those requests was? Or are you just supporting anybody with any connection to Penn State no matter how vile they may be?
