So now you throw an entire religion of millions of people under the bus because of the action of a tiny few? Way to go!!

RE Forgiveness...... You cannot simultaneously forgive and punish someone for the same thing. The two are mutually exclusive. Now, forgiveness does NOT mean condoning or excusing something that happened, nor does it mean attempting to prevent a repeat.

But you cannot say "Go to hell (or prison)" and "you're forgiven" at the same time. Gotta be one or the other.

You can be forgiven of a sin, but the actions may still bring consequences.

    True.... to a certain extent.

I may commit a crime, ask God or the victim for forgiveness and receive forgiveness FROM THEM. Yet, the justice system is often not so quick to forgive. How many convicts receive an actual legal pardon, which is the legal equivalent of forgiveness?

That's a lot of work. Split it? I'll take the women.

If the religious organization (i.e. the RCC) wants to forgive perpetrators of sexual assault on moral terms, as they have consistently done in the past, that's their own business.

However, if that forgiveness extends to the point of interfering with or impeding investigations and prosecutions of criminal actions, or assessment of legal penalties, that's the government's business. And it calls into question whether that forgiveness constitutes obstruction of the criminal process -- or participation in the crime.

You'll never get into the seminary with that attitude.

God will punish Penn State by giving the Bobcats the win.

When He sees what happens in Athens, afterward, He'll regret his decision.

How is it cowardly? Inappropriate, rude and not a little hateful, but I don't get cowardly.

I really do hate it when I am compelled to agree with OOP.
