How could he not go to USC? Penn State has been hit hard by the salary cap reductions, USC can easily make him mucho bank. Isn't that what it's about. Redd's halfway towards his degree and beginning his junior his classes get more focused. Perfect time to transfer, pick a new major and start over.

prediction: Redd never gets a post high school degree, he declares for the draft after his junior year and is drafted in 7th round by Houston or Seattle, never to be heard from again. Silas Redd, assistant custodial engineer

I think that I've showed a very active interest in College Football over the years on SJ.

As far as Redd my interest is that he is local and I've followed him since his HS days. It was a big deal in our area when both he and Khari Forte committed to Penn St.

The local sports writers have a pretty good pipeline to both families so their information has been pretty accurate so far.

But you forget that before Ogre and Kiffin got their hands on him for just a year (under your scenario), the esteemed JoePa and Co. was able to fortify him with almost two years' worth of prime moral, ethical, and intellectual certitude. You know, the whole "maker of men" stuff we've heard about for decades? Surely that's enough to keep Silas on the straight and narrow through graduation, no?

I don't expect much from teenage recruits, but if he's saying this, it's because he's parroting what he's been told.

Good to see the people rally behind/support the players. I'll be curious to see how many stay in the program for 2012 and beyond. Hope for the sake of the seniors who stay they can salvage something from their final season. I certainly won't suggest anyone who stays is "too stupid" to accept offers from coaches of other schools.

That's a win for Penn State. He'll OD on heroin before his eligibility is up.
