Nick Punto works a lot of counts.

    His career average is .248.

    Just saying. :D

FWIW and related to the new emphasis in player development, couple of weeks ago I saw a 10-year-old work a 12-pitch walk, and every coach and parent was aware of it and congratulating him. Twenty years ago nobody would have known how many pitches it was and everybody would have wondered why he can't just hit it fair.

Punto: 3.98 pitches per plate appearance (career)
    League average: 3.77 Pit/PA

Unfortunately, batting average does not control for grittiness.

A common lament among the Punto fanbase.

You are also getting the starter closer to 100 pitches faster.

Indeed. Went and watched the Mariners on Sunday. Ethier hit a grand slam in the second to make it 6-1, and that was the game. One swing. Frustrating, but that's baseball.

And I will never get over the fact that I meh'ed out on going to watch the Braves and Diamondbacks at Turner on a random Tuesday night in May 2004.

You do realize that those nights when you are alone in your room and he isn't actually there don't count in his total, right?
