Max - and Kim Mitchell solo - still sounds awesome.

As does this, these guys were also contemporaries of Max and Rush:

This is the only good song by Rush but it's perfect.

Another one for the Canadian contingent. The Guess Who are now remembered (to the extent that they *are* remembered) for "AmericanWoman", but they did a lot of lovely songs. This one is near perfect.

I guess my definition of "pop" music differs from many others. To me, pop music is sort of light and bouncy, easy to sing along with, sort of mindless, almost bubblegum, to borrow a term from my youth.

Herman's Hermits did pop music. The Stones did not. The pre-Pet Sounds Beach Boys did pure pop music; after that, not so much. The early Hollies were pop; the Animals, Yardbirds, Creme, Traffic, post-Revolver/Rubber Soul Beatles and Yardbirds were not.

The Lovin' Spoonful, Turtles, Grass Roots and Rascals were pop; Mountain, Creedence, Bob Seger, Allmans, etc., were not. Not sure the Guess Who were, except for maybe "Albert Flasher." Rush is not pop music.

Other's mileage may vary, as usual.

Yeah, this has kinda blurred a bit off of pure pop, but there's a lot of quality. I kinda intended it as a place to spread/mine good songs.

Anyhow, this one is a wonderful pop song in the original studio incarnation. This version is a folk band playing with orchestral accompaniment.

    It's also simply glorious. Enjoy.

See, this may or may not fit the pop box, but it's fabulous garage rock from back in the day. It's a great single.

Besides, I have a weakness for a cheesy Farfisa organ.
