There are some municipalities here in NJ (or at least my part) where the cop car is black with the town name and police written in white.

Sorry to annoy, JD. But FOX itself uses the ALL-CAPS version. I enjoy spelling it that way in an informal setting since it's so friggin' STUPID and it just underscores the STUPIDITY of FOX. I wouldn't spell it that way in an article, though.

But I'll bet it has that stupid stripe on the side of the door.

Nope... no stupid stripe. At least none that I've noticed.

Speaking of elevators: I used to work in a couple multi-story buildings, and every once in a while when the crowded elevator stopped at a floor, you get bozos trying to come in as soon as the doors opened running into the people who are trying to leave. Hey, idiots, if you wait and let the people who want to get out disembark, then you have more room to get on the elevator. See how easy that is.

The same rule holds true for buses and subways.

Along the same lines, people who exit elevators just stand there, oblivious to the fact there's still moving foot traffic behind them.

It's worse if they're pushing strollers, because you can't help but trip over them in an effort to get around them.

    Step aside, folks.

Same here, and I'm not going to lie, I don't even know if that's a possibility or not. I'm guessing it's not, but it does make feel uneasy for that brief moment that you see the flick out the window.

Seeing as how 75% of these posts deal with driving, it's a real shock that road rage is such an issue. I'll add my own driving pet peeve: what I call the passing "cock block." It's hard to explain but happens often. I'll be driving next to a car and go past it, but with a car a few lenghts in front of me. Now if this car I past just kept it's current speed I'd have enough space to pass in front of them in their lane. But this driver decides to "cock block" me and speed up so I won't be able to pass them. Also tailgaters, they are the worst. I drive pretty fast on the highway, but I still make sure I leave plenty of room between me and the car in front of me. Nothing worse than feeling that the car behind you is about to come through your back seat if have to brake.

Not a pet peeve, but what's up with, the "what's up with that?" on every post, boots? Sounds like some stand-up comedian's shtick.

Can we instead call it FOCKS?

Fair enough, JD. That way, it's clear that the writer isn't earnestly buying into the all-caps thing. FOCKS News it is. That looks pretty funny, particularly in ALL CAPS.

One of the things I like about SportsJournalists.com is that POSTING IN ALL CAPS isn't done very much around these parts. Even at our worst, the climate here is more sophisticated than at most message boards. Of course, that isn't saying much.

People who believe that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin ACTUALLY walked on the moon. What a crock of shit that is. It was an Academy Award winning performance by the Amerikkkan government.

I'm sure this will get me flamed to a crisp, but people who affect a Hispanic accent randomly instead of all the time.

For example, on ESPN, when they announce the ESPN Deportes section, the announcer ALWAYS rolls the R. The problem is, she doesn't roll any other Rs unless it's in someone's name. It just makes the use of the accent sound contrived.

    Boots,
No offense, no long debate intended (nor will I allow myself to become involved in one on this subject), but you are absolutely wrong. Long before I got into sports journalism, I was a broadcast journalist and news director for the NASA flagship station. I know the many of the astronauts who were in the program, including Jim Lovell, Buzz Aldrin, Jim McDivitt, etc. No, I have never been in space myself, so I can'y prove anything that way. But I have sweat through the planning, training, missions and recovery. I have even suffered at the losses, such as Roger, Ed and Gus on Apollo I. I have gone through portions of the training for a mission, the simulators, eaten the food, worn the equipment, the whole routine. I will tell you that anyone who doesn't believe what has been accomplished in our space program needs to remove their thinking from the 19th century and simply look at reality. All the satellites and equipment that has been put out there you are using daily, oncluding any TV you watch, your telephone, and even portions of this web site. To think that our space program is a Hollywood creation is equitable to believing that the earth is still round and that the earth is the center of the universe. Our space program is damn real, damn successful considering its complexity, and damn important.
