Well, you could just leave. It's not exactly a crisis.

I'm not walking halfway across the parking lot to do this. It's more the ones where the guy is next to me -- thus, it's hard to see as I'm pulling out or could start rolling into my car as I'm putting away my own groceries -- and the cart corral is literally about three parking spaces down or right across the aisle. At that point, it's either laziness, cluelessness or just pure dickery on the other person's part.

Take the positive slant, @Batman. Just another excuse to get some impromptu Fitbit steps.

I'm trying to shame him for next time. Not the best solution, but the hope is they'll see it and think to themselves, "Yeah, I guess I should've moved it."

Indeed. I once did the same and the person who failed to return it said thanks. Small victories, man.

Where's the crisis thread? Thought this was for pet peeves.

Yes, since half the card readers these days make you swipe, and the other half make you insert (and read the chip).

But the ones that make you insert STILL have the swipe crevice on the right side, so there is no way of knowing what kind of card reader it is. Until you swipe and nothing happens

In NYC today and thought of this thread 3 times so far: escalators that don't work, especially the new ones.

    (First world problem too!)

So hemorroids would be a pet peeve, too?

Ok. How long does that take you to figure out? Ten seconds? I doubt you're holding too many people up.

No. But I have had a card that for whatever reason couldn't be read. Someone standing 4 places behind me may have been muttering, "Why doesn't this bozo learn how to use a credit card." His frustration would have been misplaced.
