Again, I would be very surprised if the standard employment agreement didn't have language governing inappropriate conduct. They'll find plenty of violations.

Everyone always wants to scream LAWSUIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but a very small portion of those actually go anywhere.

She didn't think having a relationship with Petrino was separate from a decision to hire her? That's a new one.

She also had a relationship with the university-employed swim coach. It would not be difficult for the school's lawyers to paint a pattern here.

I have no insight to what kind, if any, guidelines she signed off on when she was hired by the university. I have not seen a code of conduct that explicitly says you can't screw your boss.

I would hazard a guess that if either her or her fiancee did not have to resign seeing as they were engaged, then there may not have been real strong language about fraternization.

Unless the agreement specifically says "don't screw your boss" then proving inappropriate conduct is a real stretch. If the university wants to fire her they are going to have to come up with something else.

She is going to cash a cheque from the University of Arkansas and part ways, not get fired.

ETA: nothing in the staff handbook (bored at work today so I looked it up)

Look paying her off is real easy given the $$$ they saved on Petrino.

Don't think screwing your boss is against the rules. Usually they want you to do that. It's only inappropriate when you get the boss fired.

Almost certainly Dorrell did not have a multi-year contract: those positions are almost always year-to-year gigs, renewable at the pleasure of the employer (heh heh). Although she might still have been on probationary status.

She'll be put on paid administrative leave for the 11 months (??) left on her contract, then not renewed. End of story (at least as concerns her employment situation).

She might be in violation of the terms set forth in her offer letter.

"You agree to uphold ethical standards, appropriate to your position, including, but not limited to complying with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and conflict of interest policies ... "

Not admitting you're sleeping with your direct-report supervisor is a major conflict of interest.

I had no idea there were so many Arkansas taxpayers on this board. Otherwise, why should you care if Jessica Dorrell remains employed by the university or not?

In other news, the 20 grand gift came a couple of weeks ago and it was for Dorrell to buy a car her first week on the job.

These are the dumbest people on the face of the earth since Gary Hart let Jessica Hahn Donna Rice sit on his lap aboard the 'Monkey Business.'

I believe you may be thinking of Donna Rice, the other vixen from 1987. Only Matt Nokes had a bigger breakout year in 1987 than Rice or Jessica Hahn.
