Petrino was a douche long before the scandal happened, but he's probably one of the top 10 coaches in college football, but it will seem unlikely that he'll ever be able to get a top job. This. UL is an A- job. No one is better than Jurich at hiring A and A+ coaches before people know they are A and A+ coaches. The downside to that is, once an A or A+ job figures that out, you are looking for a new coach. The alternative is to hire a guy who is on the back 9 of his career (think Rick Pitino) and, while he's still got it, isn't going anywhere because none of the A or A+ jobs would want him. All this stuff about trusting Petrino is a bunch of talk. He was hired because he is an incredible college football coach, and he cannot leave.

Why can't Petrino leave? If he beats Florida State for the ACC championship he will have offers.

I had to laugh when he said he was emotionally and contractually tied to Louisville in his presser. How many contracts has he jumped. And emotionally I think his connection is to how much he gets paid.

It would take more than winning the ACC for a job better than Louisville to call Petrino. Frankly, I'm not sure a national championship would do it. The level of success Petrino would have to have at UL for a top tier job to come calling would be so great that it would still be a worthwhile hire for Jurich. (see Pitino, Rick for example).

Uh, Louisville is a destination hoops job. That's why there have been2 coaches in 41 years. Not really an apt comparison.

All is not well a the U ... of L ...SI has some snippets of an upcoming story.

* Bobby Petrino says he’s changed. But in reporting a story about the new Louisville coach that is in SI’s college football preview, it appears Petrino is still just as difficult to work and play for. Sources with ties to the Cardinals’ football program and Petrino said there’s significant friction between Petrino and feisty defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. The two have feuded often since Grantham’s hiring in January.
So much that one source insists Petrino would have already gotten rid of Grantham if not for his guaranteed five-year contract that pays him nearly $1 million annually. He came to Louisville after four seasons as Georgia’s defensive coordinator. “He’s stuck with him,” a source said.
There’s also still lingering dissension among players about Petrino’s arrival. Some were so unhappy with Petrino’s frigid, explicit demeanor that they considered leaving early for the NFL’s supplemental draft in June according to one source.
“He’s a mean guy,” said Jamaine Brooks, a former Louisville defensive tackle who left this past spring. “He cusses you out. You’re never doing enough. He’s still Bobby Mother------- Petrino.”
Brooks initially supported Petrino’s hiring, which he quickly came to regret. “The way he came in doing business I didn’t like it,” Brooks said. “The way he treated people. He just wasn’t a good coach.”

Gee you would think after doing what he did to Louisville, then to Atlanta, then to the Arkansas employee, his family and the Hogs, then to Western Kentucky, he would have learned that he can't get away with that kind of stuff...

I don't have much sympathy for UL ...
I also can't believe they are paying an assistant coach a million $ a year. AT FUCKING LOUISVILLE!!!
Another example college football is out of whack.
