Yep. And anyone with an IQ above 10 would then say, "Why not protect your wife by not fucking some random co-ed?"

Unfortunately, the majority of Arkansas fans don't meet that IQ threshold ...

Not unless they went 21-5 during their first two seasons. :D

You can say the same thing about most SEC schools and several other schools as well.

If he went 8-4 last season, he'd already have been canned.

Brian Kelly killed someone and Notre Dame kept him around.

I was just going to say, his staying is assuming that what we know now is all there is to it. What if they keep him and a Tiger Woods-esque parade of mistresses starts to appear?

I think the AD will try to keep him, but the president/chancellor might step in and drop the guillotine like Robert Witt did with Mike Price at Alabama. Yeah, I know Petrino's got a good thing going at Arkansas, but the last two years are probably as good as it was going to get.

Yep, got to love the priorities in life.

  9. I don't think more mistresses would be a big deal.

The fact he hired said mistress into his department. And he was screwing the fiancee of another coach and (this is most important) LIED to the Admin. about who was involved in the accident... This guy can NOT be trusted. Not by his fellow coaches. And certainly not by his employers.

I think he has to go.

They'll give him a month or two on leave and keep their fingers crossed that nothing else comes out. Even if it does, people will claim it's his private life and is nobody's business. "If his wife forgives him, so should we." will become the mantra. They'll claim that lying to protect his family does not equate with lying to the NCAA.

They'll reinstate him in June, when they know at least a month will pass before he has to make any public appearances.

It will be old news by the time he gets to Hoover for SEC Media Days at the end of July. Or at least that's what they're hoping.

I don't think the hiring the mistress is the biggest issue. I think the issue is lying to the AD and allowing the University to appear to mislead people about him being the only person involved in the accident.

I'm not defending him on any level, but he certainly would not be the first coach to have his mistress hired.
