The idea of the Church of Christ being a subset of the Baptists was my best laugh all day.

Can't agree more with this, and I say that having exchanged some notes with freq and knowing that he did do counseling and put in some effort. That said, it's clearly fallen short and the "I can't divorce because it would bring financial ruin upon my family" argument is making me see red. You had enough time to screw around with all these women and to take great pains to do so with a minimal paper trail. So you had (have) enough time to get a part-time job. Staying in a marriage where you're so unhappy is doing your family no favors, just as running around on your wife was.

You asked: What would you do? I'd do exactly what I'm doing. I'd try like hell to pursue every possible avenue for a reconciliation. And if I came up empty, I'd separate. If that still didn't work, I'd split up, and I would spend every spare minute making sure I was providing my kids with the best life I possibly could.

You've posted several variations of "I'm a scumbag." What bothers me is I don't think you really believe that. I think you know that's what you're supposed to say and you put it out there in hopes of appeasing those whose stomachs turn a little with every post you make.

Believe it. You are a scumbag.

Be that as it may, it still doesn't justify infidelity.

A fictional scumbag, but the point stands.

OH - I guess what everyone wonders now is if Freq told you that you were intelligent?

I feel like I've tripped into a living room on the set of a soap opera.

He'd be more likely to say good-looking, since a post or PM can indicate intelligence, but not really looks.

Or perhaps he flipped all the cards and went for the story.

It certainly doesn't. I just answered the question posed. And I'm sure (in this fictional scenario) that the poster's wife would have a very different version of their shared history.
