Maybe he's pissed at Schad, or maybe he's pissed that his prepaid Visa was declined.

Noticed my entire Twitter feed blowing up with news that Petrino is out, then noticed it was all related to Schad's tweet.

For his sake, I hope he's right.

Chris Low is also apparently reporting it. Press conference by Jeff Long at 8:15 ET.

Wow. This is an impressive decision by Arkansas. I honestly thought Petrino would get away with it. Too many inmates running the asylum in college athletics, but hat's off to Arkansas. Absolutely the right, if not tremendously unpopular, move.

OK, so maybe some of freq's posts were full of shit...

But, I knew Petrino was going to have to go. Wish I could have made a bet with TigerVols.

And life always has its symmetry. Freq all but nukes just as the threadjack, one of the best ever, has to end.

Word from a reliable source is Petrino balked at the restrictions going to be imposed and walked on his own.
    • Any settlements and legal fees would be taken from his contract
    • All football related decisions would go through the AD and not the coach
    • His golden buyout was gone and his contract would go to a one-year deal

If they can him as reported, I give the AD a lot of credit. It would have been easy to can Petrino after last week's news if he'd gone 15-11 over the last two seasons, it's not so easy when he went to the Sugar Bowl and won the Cotton Bowl over the last 2 seasons.

AD Long must already have Gus Malzahn (just went to Ark St) or former Arkansas OC Garrick McGee (just went to UAB) lined up to become the head coach. If it's either of those guys, that's a bad break for the school that just hired somebody.

Now for the shit and giggles.

If Low writes/announces it I believe it, but has Low actually written on this or is a TV guy just eavesdropping on his conversations? I don't see anything on his Twitter.

And in a couple of years, he'll be coaching at some Mountain West school. Lesson learned, indeed.
