    Reports are that Petrino wouldn't accept the penalties the AD wanted, and so they fired him.

    I'm torn. Petrino may have been a dick, and clearly was a man-whore, but he is also a damn good coach, and the program is the best it's been since the Hogs joined the SEC.

    As good as Petrino was, he was never going to get them over the LSU-Bama hump, IMO. They'll suffer without him initially, but there are lots of good coaches out there. One with a defensive background that can recruit is the best bet for the SEC. But they could always stay on the high-flying offensive track and bring back Malzahn for about as smooth a transition -- given the talent -- as possible.

    From his standpoint the job will be there in November and there's less baggage at that point.
