Surely the swimming guy wasn't fired, unless he horse-collared Petrino by the neck brace and tried to drown him.

That's pretty much verbatim what Freq was saying about his post-B&N life.

The only reason I can think of for the fiance to be fired from his swim job -- is if he too demanded some payment from Petrino. Wouldn't be the first time (just ask the Nevada Senator who was screwing his fundraiser's wife).

It really is. No wonder freq was so in tune with what Petrino was "probably" feeling. He's a statement writer for the guy.

Freq probably even used the copier at Barnes and Noble for the job

    You are absolutely wrong.

Unlike some of the other silly "discipline" decisions of the day, Jeff Long and Arkansas were absolutely correct in firing the guy.

    Why?

Because he lied to them when he hired this woman. He lied to them about why he wanted to hire her over a lot of other presumably more qualified people. Because he lied to them about the circumstances of his wreck. Because he allowed them to make a false statement that made them look stupid and raised questions about who is running things there.

You can't do that and keep your job, especially when you are an educator.

Speaking of that, I occasionally read this thread title as Paterno -- not riding solo. The thought of Paterno riding a motorcycle and having Freqian skillz makes me giggle.

And slipped the mistress $20K out of his own pocket. Can't forget that one.

I'd need to do more homework on it, but my gut reaction is that that's a violation of an NCAA rule. Remember, Mark Richt got in trouble with the NCAA for paying assistants and support staff a total of $25K because he thought they were underpaid.

Here's the bylaw that Richt was found to have violated:

    11.3.2.2 Supplemental Pay
An outside source is prohibited from paying or regularly supplementing an athletics department staff member’s annual salary and from arranging to supplement that salary for an unspecified achievement. This includes the donation of cash from outside sources to the institution earmarked for the staff member’s salary or supplemental income. It would be permissible for an outside source to donate funds to the institution to be used as determined by the institution, and it would be permissible for the institution, at its sole discretion, to use such funds to pay or supplement a staff member’s salary.

It seems to be applicable here, even though Long explicitly said during the presser that there were no NCAA issues. Since Petrino hired Dorrell to the football staff as Student-Athlete Development Coordinator, wouldn't that be a violation?

Figure Petrino would have only become more brazen if he stuck around.

I'm already looking forward to the inevitable day when Petrino gets to lie to and mislead another gullible fan base.

2013 Dallas Cowboys, come on down!
