The animosity here toward one of sports' true good guys and class acts is inconceivable.

  2. I don't hate Manning but I'm less than impressed with his playoff play. He's been absolutely pedestrian this year, except for a couple of quarters against the Patriots ... which brings me to my other point ... for years he has been the Pats' bitch. They have owned him ... not just the Colts but Manning ... absolutely put him on a leash. Has another team owned Montana in the playoffs, or Favre?

To me, Peyton's going to really have to show something against a good defense tonight before I consider him with the greatest qbs ever.

The Giants owned Montana for a half-dozen years, 1985-90.

Favre went 0-3 against the Cowboys in the postseason.

    You fuckers are crazed.

  4. Peyton's certainly young and talented enough to (fixed: SOMEDAY) deserve the crown, I just don't think he's there yet and I'm not sure a SB win is enough with another mediocre performance.

If the Colts win 2-0 in triple overtime, the criticism is gone forever.

    Got it?

I could see if he had thrown for 300 yards and three scores in that game. But he he shit his pants in that game just like the rest of his team. He should have said "We sucked today."

    and I'm a crazed fucker ...

In playoffs past, if the Colts fell behind, they panicked and Manning made mistakes due to over-aggression. This year, he seems to be managing the game(s) much better. He deserves all the credit in the world for the AFC Championship game win. He didn't make the mistake that would have killed the Colts (or is it Clots? I get confused) season.

Great! Another boring cliche and a bunch of sportswriters bitching about how no athlete ever says anything interesting. You don't get to have it both ways.

  10. Yeah, but you were waiting for the mistake weren't you? Everyone was. Just cuz the monkey found a banana doesn't mean it jumped off Manning's back for good.

We like when someone fills our notebooks with something different.

But I'm not disputing that. I'm talking about having a spine and accepting your share of the blame.

And I'm saying you don't get to have it both ways.

You either get to have interesting quotes and the occasional callout of teammates or you get cliches.

It pisses me off to no end that folks on here bitch about how boring most post-game quotes are, but then bitch at the occasional interesting one because "he threw his teammates under the bus." You guys don't get to have it both ways.
