I just can't understand what the rationale would be to pick Tiger other than to avoid bruising his ego. Those five wins feel like a lifetime ago. He's not even going to QUALIFY for the Fed Ex Cup, which means the only way he will be able to "prove" he's healthy enough to be one of the US' 12 best players is by playing practice rounds somewhere. And since he hates Watson's guts, he's not going to let Watson watch these rounds.

The only reason he should even be considered at this point is one of our guys is serving a non-suspension suspension for cocaine troubles and another has the neck of a 65-year-old grandmother.

    Why does he hate Watson?

Watson was the only big name to speak up and say critical things about him during/after the scandal.

    Here is a decent explainer.

Interesting. Had not heard that angle before.

So if Watson picks other players with the captain's picks, how much heat will he take, especially if the US loses yet again?

None. The picks are announced after the PGA. Tiger has done nothing to deserve a spot on the team.

The only time the US has won the Ryder Cup this century was in 2008 when he was off of the team for knee surgery. So there is that.

Unless Fowler or Mickelson take the PGA today, you're looking at nine players making the U.S. team tonight off the points list and none of them having a win since April.

If Tiger is chosen you may as well choose John Daly too, since the message will clearly be that we care about ratings and nothing else. May as well make it a complete clown show.

. . . and local radar indicates there's a good chance of another show around 6 or 7.

So the leaders probably won't finish today?
