Just in case anyone is interested -- this is a major championship, isn't it? -- Phil is on a big-time roll. He was 3 over after four (bogey-double on 3 and 4), but he's birdied four of his last six holes and is now 1-under through 14. Scott birdied 14 as well to go to 6 under.

What are the odds both Woods and Mickelson double-bogey No. 18 and finish 71.

Tiger doubled No. 9, his 18th hole.

If somebody wins two majors Tiger finishes second in the player of the year race. No doubt about it.

Tiger once again in great position for an utterly forgettable Top 25 finish.

Jason Day, totally flying under the radar. I like him in the mix going forward.

Always thought the PGA Championship should focus on newer courses, or great courses that haven't hosted an Open before and move it around. Four courses have hosted the thing twice since 1999 and unlike the other majors, the PGA can be played virtually anywhere in the country.

The PGA will be at Valhalla next year because the PGA owns the place. For some reason, the USGA and PGA seem to be making clubs and courses choose to be in one or the other's rota. Oak Hill chose the PGA, and has had two PGAs and a Ryder Cup since its last Open in 1989. The PGA has been at Whistling Straits, Atlanta Athletic and Kiawah in the past three years. That's moving it around. Many great courses are just not equipped with the space or are located in places unsuitable for major spectator events, Pine Valley being the most obvious example.

I don't mind that a course is only hosting one or the other. And I love that the PGA moves it around. Might actually try to get up to the Straits in two years to watch players hit out of sandtraps that aren't really marked as traps.

It's been raining steadily for the last few hours here at the start of Round 2. When this thing is over the scores might look like the Bob Hope Desert Classic.

Could be. Of course, Merion was under water two days before the start of the Open and similar predictions were made.

Woody Austin loses four strokes to penalty for having an extra club in his bag. Right now that has moved him over the cut line. If he ends up in the area where he would have made it without the penalty, it's going to suck for him and his caddie.

There are obviously good scores out there to be had, so if someone is anywhere around par they are still very much in contention.

    I do like the course.
