That's Dean Singleton's problem, not ours.

It's the people of Denver's problem.

The problem with Stephen A. is that he learned only one sport, basketball. To be an effective columnist, you need to know a little bit about everything. The outside gigs gave him recognition but didn't develop his talent.
There was a time under the K-R ownership when they used that recognition hoping that he could boost sales. It didn't happen.
Don't look for him to be a beat guy at the Inky. He didn't like Philly and would be more comfortable back in NYC.

Hey, I think the Knicks beat is open at the New York Times. C'mon aboard, Screamin' A!

Somehow I doubt he'll be taking another newspaper job...

It won't happen for a number of reasons. Smith is good but not as good as he thinks he is.

This is no knock on Canzano, but I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out that anyone with 100 bucks can nominate someone (or themselves) for a Pulitzer. I've been, in fact, nominated for a Pulitzer, and I sure as shit didn't come close to winning one. If you're a finalist for a Pulitzer, I think you can put it on your resume, but nominated? Um, no.

If anyone wants to pay the entry fee and write the essay, I'll nominate them for a Pulitzer next year. And you can put it on your resume.

How many times Has Screamin A been nominated?

Hell, let's take one of Bubbler's "Dissection of Pop Culture" posts and nominate it.

Maybe when he gets back, they'll think about giving him the GA job and a big bag of cheese doodles.

Editor: "Yeah, Stephen... When you get done interviewing Kobe on your radio show, we need you to hop the train back here and cover a girls' soccer game. We need 400 words and reaction from both of the coaches... Sound good? Thanks...
