Technically, I'm not sure that what Irvin does is "working." :)

Tom you need some more practice on quote function usage.

Is Whitlock under some contaractual obligation that we are not aware of, that is in effect a gag rule.

you really need more practice using the contaractual spell check function there wise guy.

as far as the actual conversation goes, yeah, it's becoming clear you don't know how to pronounce the word ethics.

The collection of people who think that other media should be exempt from commentary is staggering.

yeah, took that whole dispassionate observer reference thing with a grain of salt didn't you?

columbo's ignorance? free. a gallon of gas? $2.20. a sports writer with a personal vendetta throwing stones? embraced.

this is pathetic. no wonder people are losing trust in the media.

    So... don't comment on politicians.....

So... don't comment on football games....

So... don't comment on what's the best place for lasagna in NYC....

Getting rid of commentary to be a dispassionate observer.

To paraphrase another commercial, since that's your thing here....

    Brilliant!

he thinks he's the guardian of all things ethical in the industry, he needs to let it go. Jason, let it go! Like a rapper who loses a battle but wants to keep takin shots, you're too good a writer to keep grinding the ax

He's a petty fat slobb. Rappers take shots at each other to stay relevant. Jason is not stupid. Just like the few rappers that are taking shots at Jay-Z now.

Doesn't matter. Jay-z is still selling, shining, and bringing the heat and the other rappers have faded, lost fans and can't get any exposure. Eventually, their careers die and they become has-beens.

    Sounds familiar?

once again you miss the point completely. this is not about opinion, it's about how said opinion is formed. (god, i can't even believe i have to write this.)

why don't we have whitlock write a column about his ex-girlfriend who just dumped him because he rolled over in his sleep at night and nearly suffocated her? think he'd tell the truth about why the girl dumped him, tell the truth about her character, tell the truth about her decision to dump him if it were to embarrass him in the least?

he was fired by an organization he's now taking to the woodshed at least twice since his termination. to this day, do you know espn's reasons for firing him?

yes, columns are supposed to be about opinions, but jesus christ, i'm hoping a columnist is going to tell me an opinion he's formed as a reasonable human being, not as a embittered ex-employee or jilted lover.
