I'm assuming when they give this circulation number out it is for the entire week and all 20 of the newspapers they own combined...........And be prepared to accept an offer of about 21 K, and that's assuming you have experience.

Co-worker here once applied for a news-side desk position. They told him he would have to pay his way there but would reimburse him after the fact. So he made the trip, did the interview, stayed at a hotel then went home (he worked in Florida at the time). Weeks passed and he heard nothing. He called after two weeks and was told they were going through candidates.

He called once a week after that, without success, leaving voicemails. He's yet to receive a phone call back about the position, and he's never going to recoup the money he spent on that trip.

Steer clear of the Trib-Review. They're shady people.

I used to work for this paper, and seriously, unless your other option is unemployment, stay away. The circulation numbers are questionable at best, and the publisher openly hates the Pirates management, which factors heavily into sports coverage decisions.

You raise some legit points in your post, but c'mon -- everyone hates the Pirates' management.

The publisher did use the paper to fight hard against the funding for PNC Park, so jadzia is correct there. Plus, I like that handle.

The publisher hates PNC Park and Pirates management, but I think that was just a function of the fact that the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette owned a piece of the team.
Since the Blocks sold it, things are so nice...Lord, they're lovey-dovey. At one point (not sure if this is still the case), the Trib actually was a sponsor at PNC Park, and one of the gates was the Trib Rotunda.

Even worse, the Tribune-Review boasts "We're a part of the team" in billboards and in commercials now that it sponsors the Pirates.

Again, signing up to work for this shop is the equivalent of volunteering to for a job as a deck hand on the Titanic way back......and that job probably paid more.

Here's the kind of journalistic ethics (and Scaife's personal agenda) you can expect from the Trib.

From what I can gather, they do this anonymous piece each Sunday.

This piece speaks volumes about how not respected that rag is.
