Parma from Osteria. Prosciutto, mozzarella, fontina and sherry vinegar-dressed arugula.

If I want a salad in my pizza, I'll order a salad. :)

That's actually the kind of pizza I order a lot when I go to a fancy pizza restaurant.

Then you'd like that one, it sounds like.

I'm going to spend quite some time looking into the full menus for some of those top 50 pizza places. Fantastic variety there.

I was so hoping to see a BBQ sauce and pepperoni pizza in those 50 ...

The Whole Foods near me makes very good pizza and sells it by the slice.

It's as good or better than anywhere else I can get it by the slice, and it's a block from my house.

They pretty much always have a cheese, pepperoni, and sausage available. Other choices are available on a rotating basis.

They have a buffalo chicken pizza. It's OK, but it's no a top choice.

They do a blue cheese & caramelized onion that I like. It's a basic pizza at its base, and they don't throw on the blue cheese until they reheat the slice.

    That one is pretty good.

The Virginia pizza can blow me. White mushroom? Ugh. Not a huge fan of white pizzas or mushrooms. Plus, they describe the sauce as a "pungent" base which makes me think of Sex Panther. And Bigfoot's dick.

I would definitely try some of these pizzas with creme fraiche.

Definitely not the item on the menu I'd pick, but Crozet Pizza is worth checking out if you are in the Charlottesville area.

See, if a pizzeria isn't offering shrimp as a possible topping -- and I don't mind paying the little bit extra for it -- well, they're just not trying hard enough.

Never eat shrimp in a landlocked state.
