Miley Cyrus also did a damn good cover of "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You."

    I was shocked.

There a million Dylan covers, three of my faves....

(there are better versions by Johnny out there but I was there that night)

Between this and Hendrix's "Watchtower," this is pretty much End Of Thread.

Certainly nothing in the last 20 years would rival either of those choices.

And the "Hurt" vid, IIRC, came out 14 years ago.

Saw these guys once when the swing revival was big...this was better than any of their original stuff

She has many song that qualify, but "You're No Good" by Linda Ronstadt is one of my favorites of hers. I believe the original was a 1960s soul song (too lazy to Google it).

Hell, I wore out Ronstadt's greatest hits tape in my car stereo ... it was great road music by one of the all-time great singers. And almost all of those hits were covers.

The Bangles did a lot of covers (some said because their original material wasn't up to snuff, but I don't buy it); in fact, picking good songs to cover was one of their strengths. But I thought they had plenty better than "HSOW."

"Going Down To Liverpool," "If She Kmew What She Wants," "Manic Monday," "September Gurls" and "Walk Like An Egyptian" were all covers.

Maybe, but nothing marks a bigger improvement over the original song. I like S&G, but my God was their version a barbiturate-soaked slog in comparison.
