I busted my ass on the ice not once, not twice but three times this week. Don't think I even did that as a kid back in the 19-aught-80s when winters were colder.

Can you even breathe air that cold without damaging your insides?

It's wind chill. No object will reach that temperature.

If this isn't Mother Nature, I don't know what is:
We haven't discussed the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. As of this morning, the death toll is 19,000 and climbing.
    This is horrific.

If this 10-day forecast for central Pennsylvania holds, we're not only going to duck any significant snowfall for two of the worst months traditionally, we're going to do so with an average temperature of like 45 degrees. This week and next the highs are expected to be in the 50s off and on. Totally normal.

Boston had a record low temperature last Friday. Tomorrow, it's forecast to have a record high.

I'm not going to predict the weather, especially for Central Pa., which I have always likened to Mars.

But every year, I am prepared for one immutable thing to happen. Right around late February, early March, we will get a really warm week. Spring flowers will start peaking out of the ground. My mood will pick up. I'll get the lighter fluid out to burn my wool coat. ... and then like every woman I have ever met, Mother Nature will rip my heart out. ... and follow it up with a 22-inch snow storm and sub-zero temperatures.
