When I get rich I'm going to spend the entire months of July and August either in Anchorage or somewhere on the shore of Lake Superior. The older I get, the worse I handle southern heat and humidity.

While the temperature might be milder, both places have thick swarms of mosquitoes.

Willamette Valley summer. No bugs, low humidity, 80-90 in the day 55-60 at night. Heaven.

That’s part of the reason I trout fish. Standing in 45-degree water when it’s 110 is delightful.

That's why I chose Anchorage and not Fairbanks.

Yes. Went to Alaska in the mid-2000s on a two-week-plus trip. In Fairbanks for the solstice. The mosquitos were everywhere.

It has gotten hotter there since I lived there 18-20 years ago. If it was 85, every native was dying. As someone who grew up in the Midwest heat and humidity, it was amusing.

Still the most beautiful summers, though.

Mosquitoes have already started here. Friggin ate me up yesterday when it was 80 and sunny. Today it’s 50 and raining, so no mosquitoes.

Hell isn’t a lake of fire. It’s 45 and raining for all eternity.
