Deep East Texas and Central Louisiana are getting quite a show right now according to my favorite lightning app, Blitzortung. #IYKYK

For once, a positive weather comment … clear skies in the Pacific Northwest this past weekend allowed us to see a strong Northern Lights display. Best and clearest one I’ve seen in more than 25 years, when I was driving back from covering a prep basketball game in the U.P. and you could see the eerie green light over Lake Superior.

Storm chasers are a different critter, but I might tone it down a bit.

Sonuvabitch. Didn't have a long-track wedge tornado angling right at OKC on tonight's bingo card.

Big Ass Tornado™ just leveled a truck stop north of Denton and is scraping just north of my humble abode. I saw power flashes but no funnel because it's rain-wrapped. Not today, Mother Nature. I'm safe here.

Bentonville and Rogers were hit in the northwest corner of Arkansas by one or more tornadoes. Around 80,000 without power. It hit around 2:30 am so many people didn’t seek shelter because they were asleep.

Lights are back on 36-plus hours later. My entire body is now made of sweat.

@dixiehack you got lucky. A buddy of mine in Bentonville said he got a June 2 estimate for power being restored to his place.

I think they said something like 120,000 people lost power across Alabama Power’s footprint, and I think 115,000 got it restored before I did. But somebody’s got to be at the back end and I was lucky not to have any damage. I’ve seen utility trucks from as far away as South Carolina this week.

Weather Underground says we're having light rain.

I can barely hear my TV over the "light rain."
