Level 3 for us, right in the darkness. Looks like a squall line event, which means big straight line wind but minimal tornado threat. Hail threat looks minimal right now, so I'll keep the car out of the garage but I might have to reconnoiter around 5 a.m.

The storm rolled through here just before daybreak, high winds, lashing rain and lightning I could see the flash behind my closed eyelids and waited for the sound of bowling balls careening down a wooden staircase as the thunder caught up.

The best part of living in the midwest is the thunderstorms.

That’s why Ohioans keep polluting the Florida real estate market.

Love Field in Dallas got a 78-mph wind gust. Over 300K without power (including me before I left for work). Fortunately didn’t hear of much damage other than a few tall trucks getting blown over.

    We are getting warnings of gusts from 80-100 between 10 p.m. - 1 a.m.
The wind is rocking right now. I hope that's as bad as it gets. There is a house a half mile out my road - actually a school friend - on fire right now. Not good. The house was gone in an instant. The only thing the fire dept can do is try to prevent the woods behind it from going up.

Sky turned orange this afternoon. I knew what that meant was coming.

Fortunately it wasn't big but I could feel it in my sinuses. My windshield had some dust on it. It's blown east of us now and the sky is clearing, but still sustained wind near 40.

Looks like the worst will hit my area tomorrow around 1-2 p.m., which is fine since I don't need to get on the road to Dulles until around 4. No rain in the 10-day forecast for London, highs in the low 60s this weekend? Yeah, I'll take that.

"Red sky at night, sailor's delight. Red sky in morning, sailor take warning. Orange sky in afternoon ... hell if we know, nothing rhymes with any of that."
