Makes the most sense, since he had the most to gain directly. Gangster move if so

Maybe mentioned before, but there is a podcast about Lolita. The women has done a few podcasts about specific topics.

I'm fascinated by Nabokov. Frederick Exley mentioned A Pale Fire in A Fan's Note. I assumed Nabokov was somebody playing with the English language, which made his novels so stupidly good. He grew up speaking English.

Started a new one today about Mount Meigs, the state reform school that used to be notorious as basically a child concentration camp for black kids. Even having a little familiarity with the story and being pretty used to hearing about the horrors of Jim Crow Alabama, I still am finding this profoundly disturbing, especially the second episode. This is the one to recommend to your friends who don’t get why systemic racism would still be screwing up lives today.

‘Unreformed’ podcast tells the largely untold story of an abusive Alabama reform school

I’d like to remember which episode hooked me into this series. Probably something JFK related a few weeks ago, or perhaps RFK.

Anyway, I found myself thinking WTF. Two guys talking on YouTube.

But Groubert is a very interesting storyteller and has had a fascinating life.

AND, I find this really bizarre, but they show people making donations during their events, and, I mean, $2 or $5 is one thing, but some folks are dropping $50 at a clip on these things.

Makes me wonder how much money they are drawing in. Plus, they are monetizing through locals.com and rumble subscriptions.

The topics are back scenes stuff from all over the shady side of the USA, government and various industries.

If you haven’t seen it, watch the episode about Mark running his uncle’s coffee shop in NYC. It’s hilarious, and probably where he helped craft his storytelling skills. It’s down in the Mark’s Memories playlist.

Also the one about getting put in the Greene County Prison. I was ROTFL at that one as well.

Groubert - I swear. You have to really appreciate the masterful storytelling. And there is a lot of work that goes into this by him and Hunley.

At first it kind of looked like they were just powering up the equipment and turning Mark loose, but I can now tell that it’s got some script behind it and Hunley is standing by pulling up images and videos to complement what Mark is talking about.

Anyway, highly recommended. They’ve been at this together since September 2021, and generated a ton of content.
