Um, he would have been exposed as a very good but not great NFL running back a couple of years sooner?

Walker was only in the USFL two seasons, and he was a monster with the New Jersey Generals. He still had plenty of tread left on the tires when he made it to the NFL. He just wasn't that great.

He didn't lose it to drugs, alcohol or thuggery, but Ryan Leaf wasted a ton of talent.

Caught him on TV last week when his brother was playing in a bowl. Leaf's now coaching D II football. How sad is that?

    Hot Plate Williams.
Jeff Allison (though we don't know how much "real" talent he has ... and probably won't ever find out).
    Tony Mandarich.

A little down the list, but Bam Morris squandered a lot of talent.

And you know who else is on his way? Randy Moss.

Extremely sad considering that he's coaching at the school I went to. Canyon, Texas, is a pretty far cry from San Diego. Or even Pullman, for that matter.

I would also like to submit Joe Pepitone. He coulda done us proud.

What does everyone mean, by the 1986 NBA draft drug babies, I'm well aware of Len Bias, but are there some other people who killed their careers with drugs that I don't know about?

  12. No. 3 pick Chris Washburn and No. 7 pick Roy Tarpley.
