I voted Tampa, but would have voted Ravens

    Yeah, what they said.

And great call on the '87 Redskins, BYH.

The 05 Steelers and the 88 Niners were a lot alike, in that they were both on the brink of elimination before catching fire in the final few weeks of the regular season. That Niners team was 6-5 then never lost again.

Of course, I hate both teams with such passion, but neither was the worst ever to win a Super Bowl. That honor goes to the 80 Raiders. Jim Plunkett was Vinny Testaverde before he won that game.

But the 1988 Niners actually won their division and the first two playoff games handily (and without taking out another QBs knee in the process) including a 28-3 road win over No. 1 seed Chicago.

    Crazed motherfucker.

The Colts beat the Steelers 8 times out of 10 last year.

They didn't beat the Steelers at home in January, though. In fact, they got whooped for 55 minutes.

That was the '66 Packers, the '67 Packers beat the Raiders and made the playoffs at 8-4-2. Some of the HOFers (Taylor, Hornung) were gone. I can see it. Same for the '88 49ers, who were like 10-6, it was the '89 49ers that smoked everyone.

All that said, I go for the '01 Patriots in a slight edge over the '87 Redskins off that list.

Considering that when people don't agree with your opinion, you always have a hunch they're on crack ... :D

I went with the Bucs, who played in one of the least eventful SBs in recent memory. Yawner! SBXL also didn't leave much to be desired as far as excitement went (save for those who vehemently disagreed with the refereeing).

It was, however, one of the best-coached SBs ever by Gruden and Co. Granted, they did have a head start, knowing every play and all...

Still, we didn't hesitate to spend the third quarter going grocery shopping. That game had too much build-up.

Oh, come on, you being the big Colts fan had to be aching for this year's big game ... ;)

Injuries are part of the game. Just like the injuries that forced the Steelers to start Tommy Maddox twice at quarterback during the regular season. Both overtime losses with putrid performances by Maddox.

Oh, and one of the injuries to Roethlisberger came on an even worse cheap shot by one of the Chargers. Only difference is he took the hit straight on, while Palmer's was on the side, where it could do a lot more damage.
