Posnanski and the Paterno book

EXACTLY what I meant. But maybe we should wait until the book actually, you know, comes out, before praising or trashing it. That is what I would expect from a bunch of journalists. Posnanski should be capable of making this the book it should be, but everyone seems to think it is going to be one big blowjob. I highly doubt it. And I'll wait and see.

I wonder how much Penn State burnout will affect the book. I doubt I'll be up for going through an entire book about JoePa. I'm already tired of listening to his former players' mostly asinine comments since the Freeh report was released yesterday.

Just because Posnanski HASN'T gone dark on a subject doesn't mean he doesn't have the ability, the fortitude to do so. By that logic, writers who are covering prep can't step up and cover college or pros because they never have before. Posnanski is a damn good writer and an intelligent person. But I'm still waiting until I read the book to pass judgement.

As long as that judgment is positive.

You pay homage to your deities.
    I'll observe my own.
It's pretty clear what you can expect from Posnanski.
    A whole lot of sugar.
It's not about talent, more about suitability.
Would you ask Simers to do a whimsical book on the life of Buck O'Neil?

Ask David Glass, Carl Peterson, Allard Baird and any number of players, coaches and administrators who came through the Kansas City area if Joe Posnanski always writes glowing features and never rips anybody or calls for them to be fired.

He may not have done it in the same over-the-top, look-at-me style as Whitlock, but because of that it meant something when he did.

See, at least this was clever. Ten points for Gryffindor.

Yes. We must all be positive. But I'd prefer that we all read the book first. Stop being such as jackass.

Any tough on off-the-field issues or is it just limited to how well you play ball or run a team?

Just remember the phrase "single, hazy event involving an alleged child molester." Yep, he certainly asked the tough question with no sugar added.

That quote is about 6 months old. And at the time, things were pretty hazy, except for those of you with ESP who knew all along that Paterno knew EVERYTHING from the beginning! But don't let any of that get in the way of trashing a book you haven't read.

Hey, you can be negative -- as long as you write your own book.

As a reporter, I'd try to ask questions that deviate from press releases and reports.
