  1. Apparently he didn't give the voters too big of an eff-u, because he was re-elected.

Someone mentioned Florida senator Mel Martinez. Was he born in the United States? (I don't know) He would need to be to run for VP.

On the other side of the aisle from Leiberman, you have James Jeffords who left the Republican party, ran as an independent for Senate and won. Then wrote a book about why he left the party.

Difference with Jeffords is that he changed the party he caucused with. Lieberman did not.

Charlie Crist is a dope. He's in over his head as governor; in the White House . . . God help us all.

    Crist's eyebrows are frightening.

Still, the "Crist is our Saviour in '08" bumper stickers would be a big hit.

  7. And took Republican money to do it.
The biggest reason I hope the D's increase their majority in the Senate is that they can toss this clown the hell out of the caucus.

Given Mac's health status, this is a vital question.

And that said, handing it to Huckabee as a political bauble would be the height of irresponsibility . . . perhaps, even more heedless and whimsical than George I's choice, Mr. Potatohead.

  9. I didn't realize that about Crist.
But St. John owes him big time, and the guy does have a 60+ approval rating in a state the GOP really needs to win.

  10. Here's some crazy shi...er...informed speculation from mouthbreathing idio...er...respectable conservative savants.

    Tim Pawlenty?
Great. He'll make McCain look 250 years old.

    Yawn.

We're on record re Clark, in this space, several months ago.

    He's perfect, for Her purposes.

    As for . . .

    Duncan Hunter?

Jeez, the lock on the liquor cabinet was broken, early . . .

Based on McCain's career, it seems likely he will pick someone in his personal comfort zone rather than a pure ticket-balancer. Which means it could be just about anybody mentioned above. If it's Huckabee, I'd take as an acknowledgment the GOP isn't gonna win, so keeping the party as united as possible is the primary campaign objective.
