I think T Paw is in Illinois today.

  2. Meanwhile, at the top of the ticket, you'd think this story would have had more legs than it's shown.

If Mitt Romney wasn't a really bad campaigner, he'd have hung this around McCain's neck like an anvil.

Charlie Crist is single. Single guys don't get put on the ticket. I could care less about the man's personal life, but GOP voters would go absolutely insane if he gets put on the ticket and anyone does some digging into it.

That's giving them a lot of credit. Maybe too much so.
Talk in the Peach State is that Gov. Sonnyboy Perdue may be a ticket choice.
McCain is certainly going to need someone younger. Where's Dan Quayle?

  7. By all means, let's put Sonny's pet issue front and center (St. Pete Times):

" Sonny Perdue, meanwhile, won the governorship by following a strategy that has served Republicans well since 1964 -- a subtle appeal to the lingering resentments of Southern whites. Perdue found the perfect issue to arouse the "Forget Hell" crowd -- the new state flag. Two years ago, Gov. Barnes convinced the legislature to replace the old state flag, which prominently featured the Confederate battle flag emblem, with one that reduced that divisive symbol to a tiny icon at the bottom of the flag. Perdue brochures asked voters in rural areas to "remember who changed your flag," and they did.
According to the Associated Press, Perdue swept the state's predominantly rural, white counties. He won 95 of the 96 counties that are more than 65 percent white. Four years earlier, Barnes won 55 of those counties."

And Rufino, are you implying something about Governor Crist? I didn't get that memo.

Thank God that kind of thing didn't work for George Allen, when it mattered.

I am starting to hear that McCain is considering Charlie Daniels as his running mate.

  10. Charlie's the young one.

Charlie appears with a different girlfriend every few months, who is then never seen with him again. One had even posed for Playboy. I'd think that alone might trouble hardline fundamentalist types. Folks I know in the Tallahassee press corps insist there is more there, but have thus far left it alone since he hasn't taken any hypocritical public stances. Personally I don't know or care what Crist does in his private life, but I have a hard time imgaining they'd put him on the national ticket and see what happens.
