  4. If Hillary wins the Dem nod, she should get Colin Powell. That would be nighty night for the Republicans.

Yes I know the thread is about the GOP. I don't care. shut up.

I'd like to know more about her positions on domestic policy, but I would certainly consider voting for anyone who would give a foreign policy speech like this:

..why not do it metaphorically as well?

There was a lot of talk about this yesterday in the hotel lobby. Really, it comes down to two choices.

    1) Huckabee. Yesterday helped him here. Youngish, southern, Christian, but moderate on enough issues that he's not a total misfit with McCain, even if he does believe men rode dinosaurs. Risks turning off independents, but will shore up the right of the party, and will help McCain in a bunch of states like Arkansas where he might otherwise not have a hope in hell.

    2) Graham. Apart from the "lifelong bachelor" tag, he's perfect. Like Huckabee, he's youngish and southern, but he's not a holy roller. Instead, he's an Air Force colonel, and most of all, McCain thinks of him as a son. Loves the man. And Graham has been staunchly loyal -- he was the only guy who stuck around through 2000 and July's crash and burn -- which means a lot to McCain.

The trick is whether McCain thinks he can get past the single-man tag and all the whispering. Last night, being the betting man I am, I was thinking McCain might say fuck what anybody else thinks, I'm picking my friend.

Charlie Crist was everywhere yesterday, by the way. So was Joe Lieberman. And the guy from North Carolina. Drawing a blank now. (Burr? Burne?) McCain has gained a number of new and phony friends in the past few months.

The thing to remember about Huckabee is he's also fantastic with the media. He would make an interesting choice as VP.

Will Chuck Norris have a post if Huckabee gets in as VP?

Chuck Norris already has a job. He is God.

The right that hates McCain hates Huckabee at least as much, maybe even more. Personally, I don't think McCain is the right candidate, but Huckabee would make me less likely to vote for him

I was thinking more of the evangelicals, Guy, than the hard-right conservatives. I should have made that clearer.
