My 12-year-old daughter is a Theatre Kid, and I love the enthusiasm she has for acting and musicals. But Hamilton has been on an even different level. We've been blasting the cast album for a while:

Driving cross country, Palo Alto to Vermont, enjoying satellite radio, and this song came on '80s on 8 yesterday. Can't get it out of my head, first line and her voice dig in deep.

Mississippi in the middle of the dry spell ...

This lost gem came on today. Whole time I kept thinking how familiar it sounded.

Figured it out toward the end. Blink 182's I Miss You has the same kind of structure and arrangement.

PBS special tonight. Arlo Guthrie Alice's Restaurant

Love that. First heard it on DC 101 during my commute to see family.

Also, The Train They Call The City of New Orleans.

Great stuff. If you are on the west coast, catch it on PBS tonight. Others, catch it on a replay.

50 years ago. Man, time flies. Enjoy the ride.

Arlo did a great version of "City of New Orleans," but it's actually a cover song.

The original is by a Chicago folk singer named Steve Goodman, who played it for Arlo in the early 1970s and the latter turned it into a hit.

It's one of my favorite songs to play on guitar.

Thanks for the heads up on that PBS special, VB — I'll have to check it out.

Cool song from the early 80s, with a very young Neil Finn up front:
