Looking at the start of this thread — the original purpose died out a long time ago. It may have turned into what it is now somewhere around page 77, but....

Looking for the Flood Song, I found a song called Tupelo Blues on youtube which might be the same thing. I'm no music critic, but I liked the rhythmn and his mmm hooks. He's got one of those voices that's like an instrument by itself. It's relaxing.

It made me want to listen to Van Morrison's And it Stoned Me.

With or without choral voices in the background? Regardless, nice choice.

As much as I want to play Gustav Holst's "The Planets," it might upset the neighbors. Thing is, "Mars" makes for a good EQ/audio connector test, never mind that it will awaken everyone within a three-block radius ...

Of course it has the choral part. Not having the choral on Beethoven's 9th is like listening to the 1812 Overture without cannons.

And speaking of audio tests and the 1812 Overture, get the Telarc version of that piece and play it on about 7. Don't play it any louder, because the cannons were digitally mixed and they will blow your speakers, not to mention make your neighborhood sound like Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944.

Understood about the choral part with Beethoven, Birdscribe. I agree ... but I believe I've heard some crummy arrangements with the Ninth Symphony that had some weak choral background. A shame, but unfortunately, Beethoven isn't around to pitch a fit.

Copy on the 1812 Overture. Still remembering the trumpet player one time who passed out trying to hold a long note on that piece. Wonder how that would sound with a Bose center channel speaker with 901s up front and 301s in the back? They might be able to handle the cannons, but would the windows and human ears?
