Post-Dispatch SE (big surprise, right?)

Agreed on some days. But both Detroit papers are eight pages on most days, sometimes 10. Chicago is 8-10 on most days.

Its weekend space is quite decent.

StL, what's taking so long?

 

Some days in STL, it's five pages. Maybe six.
For a big sports town. And that includes agate.

 

Then the new SE has to argue for a bit more space or the ability to cover more stuff on StLTODAY. Eight should do it for a city this size on slow days, maybe six in the summer.

Lee, this is your flagship paper. Don't go cheap.

 

How many days a week is STL down to 5-6 pages? That's a joke for a city with three pro franchises.

 

A joke is the fact that they haven't made a hire yet.

 

But think of all the money they are saving

Because I'm a STL Blues fan.

Who's running the section, as well as preps over there?

 

Except for those who used it as leverage to sweeten their current deals. And, from what this long duration might suggest, those who turned this down without any sweetener back home at all.

 

Let's remember, though, that a couple of people StL targeted weren't really interested anyway as per their current gigs. It's also not like everyone who went after this one was looking to "sweeten their current deals."
StL had a really good candidate ready to take the job, and at some point, started deciding they needed a splash on top/instead of just making a really good hire.
As more and more of this continues, I feel bad for the people I know in StL. I mean, why would a city with three major sports need a SE?
