The vast majority of restaurants in this country (like 99.99 percent of them) pay at least 4 times the salary in that tweet, and many in higher cost places pay 5, 6, 7 or 8 times that amount. So it's a silly meme.

A lot of those restaurants are having trouble finding staff. There are a variety of reasons for that, each contributing to a different degree. But anyone being honest has to acknowledge that the United States has screwed itself up. ... as politicians have destroyed our markets, including the labor market, based on silly populist memes that defy actual reason.

As a result, we are a country in which the Bureau of Labor Statistics is now telling us that unemployment is high. And at the same time, businesses can't find workers. And despite that absurdity, the meme makers aren't missing a beat. ... like the arsonists who ride in the fire truck telling everyone how to put out the fire.

The ads were so great Ted DIDN'T join up. He does realize that most military ads are targeted at the parents than the kids right? Shoot, there probably isn't a better time to join up since we're about to embark on the first "peace" we've enjoyed for 20 years. But I have to think the military is having a hard time recruiting women more due to their problem with rape culture and unwillingness to deal with it, than a cute animated TV ad can undo.

There isn't a business on Cape Cod that doesn't have a Help Wanted sign in front. The reasons why this is so are obvious. 1. Big source of seasonal labor was immigrants. Trump and covid shut that off. 1. You can make very good money working at a Cape restaurant -- in July and August. But where will you live? Median home sale price in 2021 in one town is $1.2 million. Summer rentals want rich families from Wellesley or Westchester county, not 8 college age kids there to work hard and party harder. One of the greenskeepers at local course lives in Plymouth. He's got a 45 minute commute to work at a job which starts very early in the morning. But it's a steady job for reasonable pay. Nobody's gonna do that to sell beach toys to tourists.

It’s May 2021, we’re coming out of COVID, the Democrats control the presidency and Congress, the GOP is in shambles, and Paul Krugman writes “American democracy is hanging by a thread. Cowardice, not craziness, is the reason government by the people may soon perish from the earth.”

Who is this man writing for? Perish from the earth? Is this the end times?
