As re: meetings, I think my "boss" would be happier if I actually was napping.

Perhaps Manchin runs again and declares as an independent after the 2022 elections. Democrats have a nominal majority for now and hope they gain PA/WI/OH and hold GA in the next cycle, and he can say to West Virginia voters that he’s a man of principle who stood up to those evil liberals.
