It's one of the classic blunders. The most famous of which is 'never get involved in a land war in Asia,' but only slightly less well-known is this: 'Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line!'

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese

Democratic Report Raises 2022 Alarms on Messaging and Voter Outreach

Overall, the report warns, Democrats in 2020 lacked a core argument about the economy and recovering from the coronavirus pandemic — one that might have helped candidates repel Republican claims that they wanted to “keep the economy shut down,” or worse. The party “leaned too heavily on ‘anti-Trump’ rhetoric,” the report concludes.

“Win or lose, self-described progressive or moderate, Democrats consistently raised a lack of strong Democratic Party brand as a significant concern in 2020,” the report states. “In the absence of strong party branding, the opposition latched on to G.O.P. talking points, suggesting our candidates would ‘burn down your house and take away the police.’”

This is pathetic even by Democratic Party standards. 1. The party DID win, after all, so it's messaging couldn't have been a complete disaster. 2. The core message on the virus and the economy was and had to be "Trump is fucking this up because he's a blunderer." The incumbent is ALWAYS the main issue in a presidential election where he's on the ballot seeking re-election. My guess is these Democrats thought but obviously couldn't say about the election was "white racism was just way more powerful than we thought."

"Are we as a nation better off than we were two years ago?" Boom. Done. Where's my $200k consultancy check?

The Dems have largely ridden the "personality" of its President for messaging. Given where the party is - selling a "future" with likes of Biden, Schumer, Pelosi and Hoyer as your people making the pitch isn't great. They need to get younger.

China, as they say, is not fucking around. How is their business plan to take over Africa going? They're definitely going for the gusto.

They beat the Russians. They beat the Americans. Game 3 against the Chinese, for the sweep, starts now!

I agree for the most part.

I think the report is at least in part a centrist push against the far left element of the party, and an acknowledgment that the GOP is having some success characterizing the Democratic Party as just this side of socialism.

The party didn't lean heavily ENOUGH -- and still isn't -- on anti-Trump messaging.

The GOPfascists always accuse the Democrats of SOCILISM!! Always.

Joe Biden: My trip to Europe is about
    America rallying the world’s democracies

    Opinion by Joe Biden

On Wednesday, I depart for Europe on the first foreign travel of my presidency. It is a trip stacked with meetings with many of our closest democratic partners — including the Group of Seven nations, our NATO allies and the leadership of the European Union — before concluding by meeting with Vladimir Putin. In this moment of global uncertainty, as the world still grapples with a once-in-a-century pandemic, this trip is about realizing America’s renewed commitment to our allies and partners, and demonstrating the capacity of democracies to both meet the challenges and deter the threats of this new age.

Whether it is ending the covid-19 pandemic everywhere, meeting the demands of an accelerating climate crisis, or confronting the harmful activities of the governments of China and Russia, the United States must lead the world from a position of strength. ... And, as America’s economic recovery helps to propel the global economy, we will be stronger and more capable when we are flanked by nations that share our values and our vision for the future — by other democracies.

That’s the agenda I will advance at every stop. ...

This is a defining question of our time: Can democracies come together to deliver real results for our people in a rapidly changing world? Will the democratic alliances and institutions that shaped so much of the last century prove their capacity against modern-day threats and adversaries? I believe the answer is yes. And this week in Europe, we have the chance to prove it.
