The reason why Trump won the nomination is that the people in the party who knew better tried to play the middle by trying to win over his voters by not pissing him off. Gov. Sandwiches could have ended his campaign in enough time to comply with the new Texas abortion law, but he wanted Trump’s voters.

 

I think the GOP is delusional, the last handful of elections has shown that Fatf*ck = Loser. Keep digging that grave.

And with Ellison and the GQC complaining about voter fraud already, we may have to get used to it, until a) somebody tells them to fuck off, or ii) they realize it's a losing hand.

But, the GQC seems to be sold out to Trump anyway. They saw his win in 2016 and figured they'd found a winning hand, not factoring in how dreadful a candidate Hillary was (and she was, it's been debated ad nauseum here). People started seeing it was all smoke, mirrors and bullshit in the 2018 midterms and again in 2020. I think as long as the likes of MTG and Bobert are on the ballot in 2022, we'll see more of it. Even before then, we're seein how a Trump-like approach to the pandemic in Texas and Florida is a losing battle, as in losing lives.

It's like in football. The Wing-T is a great offense in high school ball, but you don't see it much on the next level because the athletes are better. The spread is a good college offense, but you see it only in limited doses in the NFL. At that level it's stoppable. It may take another election cycle or two (pray it'll be less) before folks see that while they tought they were buying a Trump steak, instead it was day-old hamburger.
