They are annoyed in Ireland about the Eastern Europeans. The Poles and the Slovaks and other guys take the low-paying gigs.

All the support of illegal immigrants/undocumented workers notwithstanding (really, I get the idea, and the sentiment), do we ever call a halt, or a definite slow-down, to the influx, and the ever-increasing numbers? If so, at what point?

Or, should we really just let everybody in?

This is actually something worth talking about, despite any shades of Fox News.

If our biggest problem is that too many people want to come here, I'd say our country is in pretty good shape.

That's the nice response, but doesn't really answer many legitimate questions in term of logistics, limits, boundaries, costs, who pays for what, etc.

Of course, such problems are going on the world over because, frankly, there are just too many people, almost everywhere.

I don't think it's about the numbers as much as it's about the process and the need. We have to establish a system that clearly delineates immigration, asylum and refugee status. We need to make is possible to immigrate to the US and become a citizen in more than a couple of decades. We need to employ common sense, humanity and clearly dictated terms for all. If we need annual caps to make it flow smoothly, that's fine.

People keep moaning about no one wanting to work. Well, immigrants want to work. I think we have a worker shortage because of the low influx of immigrants during covid, the people who died during covid and the people who have retired. I'm pretty sure that adds up to several million. I've read that about a million people have retired early because of covid.
