A few years later I worked a few months at one of the local stations, and a couple of the jocks had been there long enough to remember it.

They said, except for a couple awful exceptions (ie the title tune), the album was not really that bad, mostly sappy acoustic pop stuff, that if you had liked Seals & Crofts before (and a lot of people had, they were coming off a string of hits) there was probably no reason you wouldn't like this too.

But the saturation phone campaign backfired -- the radio stations could tell it was the same couple dozen kids making hundreds of calls, usually throwing in some anti abortion wingnuttery, so many program directors said, "fuck that shit" and deep sixed it for airplay.

So essentially Seals & Crofts' career went down the shitter from that point on.

 

A comedian with a media platform?

 

...but I might have given a few good people a private guided tour of the Capital, pointing out a few places of interest.

Also don't forget planning sessions which may have taken place in other locations than Washington DC?

 

I have a gut feeling the net is closing in on these guys and we might be close to seeing this thing blown open. Whether anything happens is a different story.
