AOC represents a very small portion of NYC. Cruz represents the entire state of Texas.

I didn't realize her district was having a massive power outage because of an almost-unprecedented cold snap that resulted in deaths; that people were trapped in their homes without running water or heat; that she required a special police escort to the airport when the roads were dangerous and no travel was being recommended, or that she lied about her trip when it became public knowledge.

Also, the 7-day average of Covid deaths in NYC has ranged from 5 to 27 over the past five months. So very, very few, if any, people are dying in her district, which probably has a very high percentage of vaccinated constituents. So there is not a crisis.

But otherwise, yes. Completely similar. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and pretend you're 8, not 5.

Read that whole thread. While I can understand wanting to collect information on a person making threats to your family, it was kind of shitty of Swallwell to dox the guy -- seems to undo all the good he did in the dialogue. Not sure the right move there...

 

There's a difference between taking a holiday vacation and fleeing your state to a resort island and leaving your constituents to freeze in the dark, but you already knew that.

I'll follow up seriously for a moment ... AOC bears absolutely no responsibility for the 7-day average of COVID deaths either recently or in more distant months. Nor does she bear, substantively, any responsibility for the vaccination uptake of the people she represents in the House. I don't mean that to diminish what she does, or how effective she is as a legislator, etc. Those things simply aren't in her portfolio of responsibilities.

Similarly, Cruz has no obvious responsibility for the cold snap, the power outage, the performance of the grid, etc. If you wanna assume her trip used none of the public resources that Cruz's did, fine by me. One might ask you to show your work, but I'll take your word for it.

My crack re: the rubric traced to someone fairly reasonable 'round here saying "But yes, both have an equal say on their state's actions. None."

Now, back to my usual brilliant sarcasm ...

The difference between the two is that one of them thinks of themself as absolutely the quickest wit to ever shit between two shoes. And the other, in addition to that, went to Yale Law.

I really don't understand the anti-doxxing thing. If we're about free speech, you should be willing to put your actual name on it. If you aren't - unless you have some great inside scoop that will require you to remain anonymous and are willing to go to the NYT or WP - stay quiet. Twitter should blue-check everyone.
