My point was, I think Trump on the whole was very much more pro-business and pro-law enforcement than critical of it.

But I concede it is a minor point. Trump was awful, did a lot of bad things, etc. Carry on.

Do you really think - like, really think - that Disney somehow came out better financially in this deal? And if that’s true, why did Disney use it want it for so long?

It seems more likely that everybody loses a bit in the deal. Disney loses control and that could cost them in the long run, but the tax burden on businesses and homeowners in the area is likely to rise significantly. DeSantis hurt his own constituents in the pocketbook and he made even more of an enemy in Disney in the process.

What Disney got most from its prior status was the ability to expand and construct within its district without having to go through local and county approval and permitting processes. That's of considerable value. Disney World operates Florida's third largest public transit system among other things. Essentially, self-government was worth more than $163 million a year to Disney. Besides its massive corps of lawyers, the company has an even more massive corps of bean counters. Not likely they got the equation wrong.

    I know all this.

    Why doesn't Robert Reich?

Looks like a parachutist here. The arcane tax law version of armchair epidemiology.

There are actually groups on social media called "America Is What Would Happen If You Ordered A Country From Wish."

The next time someone gets lost and freezes/starves/dies of sun exposure, we need to ask why they weren't found and rescued. Or am I oversimplifying this?

I saw him in the wild. He looks like a disappointed poodle.

Okay, I thought I was reasonably intelligent and well-educated. I read two dead languages and speak four modern languages at varying levels of fluency. All I can parse from that video is:

"Skreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Ork! Ork! Ork ! Heeemeenie heemeenie. Brrap! Ginger. Frooooooooooooooooooooop! Arf! Arf! Arf!"

So how many brain cells did I kill by watching that interview?

I can buy the self-professed tax expert a heck of a lot more than the newly minted epidemiologists and Slavic historians of Twitter.

DeSantis is the kind of guy who wore a long braided belt in the '90s.

Because Reich gave up knowing things sometime around 2007.

I appreciate this. I'm still waiting for somebody from a major outlet to explain it sufficiently.
