There's a governor's election here in Mass. this year, and a governor's and a Senate election in New Hampshire. And so far local news, site of all political advertising here, has shown dozens of ads for only one thing -- issue ads denouncing possible legislation that'd make people like Uber drivers employees rather than "independent contractors." The real power in America at work.

 

That happened in California and it's been a total clusterfuck. There were tons of unintended consequences, like making it difficult for gig workers such as freelance journalists and photographers, musicians and even youth referees and scorekeepers to make a living. A number of exemptions have been passed and voters approved keeping drivers and food delivery workers as independent contractors.
